FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Funding for Alternative Fuels Program Available(HARRISBURG) - - Non-profit groups, educational facilities and local governmental agencies are eligible to apply now for grants to expand the use of alternative fuels, according to State Sen. John R. Gordner (R-27). "The Alternative Fuels Incentive Program is an excellent way to encourage the use of ethanol and biodiesel fuels," said Senator Gordner. "It will help efforts to conserve the use of expensive gasoline and diesel fuel, save money and is good for the environment." Grants through the Department of Environmental Protection are used by the entities to install refueling equipment and purchase alternative fuels. Applications are being accepted by the Department until October 2. Additional information on the Alternative Fuels Incentive Program is available through the Department's website at www.depweb.state.pa.us or through Senator Gordner's Office. The program is one of several initiatives of the General Assembly and the Department to encourage the use of alternative energy sources. |
